P.S. None of these are posed…he actually didn’t want to do anything I wanted him to do. Annoying while shooting…. so glad he didn’t listen to me. This seriously was a 10 min shoot. I was actually shooting a client, we were finished, I was her ride. She was waiting I snapped away. So glad I did. Sometimes your favorite images are the ones you never plan for.

Isn’t she a beauty! Erika is always fun to shoot. Here are just a couple of images from the shoot. We even had snow! Fun right? Erika is always thinking out of the box and keeping me on my toes. Which I love. As a photographer its fun to hear their and ideas and try to make them a reality. Thanks Erika for letting take these images of you!
Wishing you the best this year.
Cheers

The letter is from Jeanie from fototail.com A letter she received in the summer from a former client. Its so sad but yet so powerful. As a photographer sometimes it is hard to convey what images will mean. How special they will be. Photographers are passionate people! Why you ask? We love to capture love. We are hunters of beauty! We love what we see. We see love, we see you love one another.
P.S. parents back up your computers, phones, and please go make prints. You never when your computer will crash.

Today I am writing for a couple of reasons. I have some quiet time at the moment and need to get a couple of things off my mind. I will leave this for my husband to deliver to you when he is ready.
You photographed my wedding, you photographed my first pregnancy and my first baby. I contacted you awhile back to photograph my 2nd child and family. After getting prices and realizing I would want all of the pictures as we love your work – I decided against spending $500+ – which is what I normally spend for portraits and prints with you.. Please know it is not because I don’t value your amazing eye, or how much we love the experience.
That week that I decided to NOT do a session with you, this is how I spent some money.
On Sunday I called and cancelled our session. Monday I went out and got my hair cut ($39+tip), and colored ($65), Thursday I had my nails done ($24), my family went out to dinner at a somewhat expensive restaurant for no particular reason costing us $79 + tip. This was just 4 days since canceling our session, already totaling over $200 for un necessary things. My nails only lasted about 2 weeks, my hair is gone, and seven weeks passed when I got the phone call from our doctor. It was not something I expected and the cancer has spread very quickly. I will be leaving my husband, my 6 year old girl and my now 2 year old – not by choice. It is very hard for me to talk about it which is why I need to write you.
I watch your Facebook page and your posts about the value of a photo and if I could give back all of those things that I purchased this few weeks after I cancelled my session with you, knowing what I know now, and have that session, well… I would do it in a heartbeat.
Now my time is done and there are no more chances for me. The next time someone cancels a session – my wish is that you forward this letter to them. Time is fragile, it is gone before you know you had it. If you charged $200 for one print it wouldn’t be enough for what it is actually worth. I cringe to think that my priorities were a manicure over a memory to pass onto my babies and husband.
My love and thanks for what you have given us from past photos. I am so sorry that I did not see it as more than paper until now.

Yes, this is what we call her La La. This is my beautiful sister Carla. This is us playing in my mothers bedroom playing with her pearls. Nothing like playing in moms room/jewelry, right? We did what sisters do best, have F U N! There is nothing like sisters. I am lucky I have three, three best friends that is.

These were taken at the Four Season Maui, which is a stunning location. You can’t go wrong staying there or getting married there. Had great time meeting all the Making things Happen girls. This was a styled shoot by the lovely wedding planners at the Fours Seasons.

Elisabeth is a natural beauty. Like STUNNING. I loved her images. I had so much fun taking her images. Her whole family came out for the event. There was some serious laughter happening behind the camera. Elisabeth, I hope your last year of high school is one that will not be forgotten. These are long over due on the blog. Sorry! So I was able to be on the RED CARPET for the world premiere screening of HAWAII FIVE-O! It was an amazing experience (thank you E). I am not going to lie, I had no idea what to expect. It was insane! The coverage that was there was huge. FOX, ET, CBS, and more! Then there is little me, dying in the heat (honestly, ridiculously hot) and having no idea what is going to be happening. Plus 50 or so photographers. I have never seen so many photographers trying to get the shots they needed. It was over the top!
The cast was super nice, but Daniel Da Kim was by for the nicest (haha maybe I think that because we are facebook friends. haha jk)! His skin is amazing. Really! Like I put my camera down and just stared at his face. Plus he just wanted to be with the people not the camera crews! Back to the cast, they all went out to the crowd, signed, took pictures and just embraced the ALOHA spirit. Grace Park, so tall and the size of my pinky ( I have a small one). Just Beautiful! Alex O’Loughlin really you just can’t go wrong, who doesn’t love an Aussie (yummy) ? Scott Caan who doesn’t love him (surprisingly shorter than I thought he would be), Oceans 11 anybody? Over all it was an amazing night, thanks again for letting me be on the carpet.
I think the show is pretty good. I am little bummed that they solve the crimes every week, I like it when I am dying to see the next episode. My favorite is just seeing Hawaii on TV oh and trying to see if I know any of the extras!
My favorite picture of the night. Why because I am in the shadow, there is a cop in it and well I just think its fun.

Did you know my husband I just made three years last week. I still can’t believe it. When I stop and think about it I am amazed. I can honestly say it has been some of the best years of my life. I love having a best friend to walk with me in this journey. I am excited for the adventures ahead.
Dear Love,
Thank you for letting me dream! Helping me be a mother and letting me be your lover.
You are my shining star when nights are dark. You help me see the best in everything.
You tickle me even when I don’t want to be.
You wipe my tears when I cry even if they are happy tears. You put up with all my silly ideas and dance moves.
You make me tea in the morning and walk the dogs. You have a passion about you that is so captivating.
I love how you sing to our son and never to old to do anything with him.
I love they way you still try to steal kisses from me.
I love that you want me and only me.
I am OH so thankful for you my dear.
I could write and never be out of words for my thankfulness for you.
love your bf

Yeah, is it just hard to balance. I’ve been trying for almost 10 years and some days & weeks I do it well… other times not so well. –You know how sporadic my posts are!! But it’s a journey, and it’s never dull! Just do your best, joyfully, and don’t fret too much about what you don’t get done. Sometimes I have to stop and ask myself “Will it matter in ten years from now?” If it WILL – give it your all! Love you!
